Come to the dark side…

…of user experience.

DarkPatterns.org is a UX pattern library curated by Harry Brignull dedicated to user interfaces that have been designed to trick users.

Learn about patterns such as Bait and Switch, Privacy Zuckering, and my personal favorite Roach Motel aka Hotel California.

We’ve all experienced sites with these incredibly annoying, manipulative, and potentially dangerous UX patterns. Let’s take up the call, and shed some light on them. Do you know a site that uses one of these anti-usability design practices? Submit it to DarkPatterns.org.

Here is a presentation Harry gave at UX Brighton:

Press for Blood Junkies! We got a spread in the September 7th NY Daily News. I love the headline.

Production was stressful, but really fun. I loved seeing the characters and setting come to life, the fantastic performances, the amazing makeup effects, and the awesome crazy stunts. So exciting.

Now we’re on to editing.

The year started off in Pennsylvania for Exit Strategy, shot down to Atlanta for Ghost Club, back to Brooklyn for Blood Junkies, with a bankshot to Los Angeles for Resurrection Men. My head is spinning. In a good way.

Here’s the trailer from Exit Strategy, a web series that I wrote (and we produced) for Teen Nick:

Exit Strategy Trailer from Small Media Extra Large on Vimeo.

A still of me from The Ghost Club, a film I wrote (and acted in) for producer/director Hank Blumenthal.

I got to be thrown out of a window by a ghost in this one. Nothing better than that.

A still from Blood Junkies, a film I wrote and we produced for… well, ourselves.

Next on the horizon? Xandy Smith’s trailer for Resurrection Men, a dark, father/son, save the family funeral home by selling dead bodies comedy. I can’t wait to see what Xandy comes up with!
